Awesome memories and some awesome players for being kids...on our shirts we had name of our team plus added extra " big bad bob and the kak" which was my dad the manager and we were kak kick ass kids.. Illinois (Ridgway) and played Khoury League baseball in the early 60's.
Got to play in the All Star game in 1963 in Sportsmans Park.. WHAT AN AMAZING TREAT FOR A 10 YEAR OLD ...
I have a picture of my team just behind short stop position with the old SCORE BOARD in the background ...
There were 3 teams playing at once ... 1 in left field, 1 in center and 1 in right
I played in Left field just behind 3rd base ...
The feeling of being on that field was just indescribable ...
My family had a black & white TV ... i had never seen a game in color ... when we rolled up in an old bus at the Park ... and then walked into the stadium ... I'll never forget how all of the COLOR just knocked me out ... the dirt on the infield, the grass SO GREEN, and the REDs were just amazing ... all of the seats were bright Cardinal red...
What a time for me ...
also in 1963 and 1964, our parish priest, who was a St.Louis native... took the team to a major league game at Sportsman ... just amazing ...
I got to see all my favorite players... Bill White, Leon Javier, Curt Flood, and many patrickwathen@hotmail.com others, but the greatest thrill ... Stan the Man Musial ...
I enjoyed it so much and think of it often

by the way my email isAnonymousnoreply@blogger.com
